PRAYER EMBROIDERY

Embroidery panel with silk knot on silk warps. Created as a prayer mat for a prominent person. Dominant decorations (cypress and peacock) testify to Persian origin as well as inscription. The translation of the inscription says that the work was created "at the command of the precious and dear noble prince Ismail Mírzad. May his glory be permanent, and may he`s blessed by fortune. " According to colors and designs, it can be said that it is probably work from south or southwest Iran. Flower motifs indicate the Ottoman influence. These are stylized roses, peonies and poppies, with a motif of so called "dagger leaf" that can be found on Ottoman tiles and other pottery. Framed, covered with protective plastic. Embroidery size 182x111 cm. Frame 188x118 cm.
