TWO ROSARIES

Bavaria or Schwäbisch Gmünd, end of the 18th - 19th century
The larger of the two rosaries consists of 6 sections, each containing 10 red carved beads (total of 63 beads), separated by larger filigree beads (a total of 7 so-called Paternosterperlen), l. approx. 50 cm, all strung on red thread, with the red color interpreted as the color of love. Attached to the filigree cross is a smaller enameled cross with double-sided painted motifs of the Crucified Christ and IHS, above which is also strung a filigree Latin cross, known as the Credokreuz. Comes with: a rosary with 5 sets of plain brown beads (total of 53 beads), 6 Paternosterperlen, l. approx. 30 cm, with an attached filigree cross containing a miniature cross painted with enamel on both sides.
