WRITING SECRETARY

Germany 1830 - 1840
Secretary with a drop-front writing surface, the interior fitted with small drawers. The body is made of softwood, veneered in walnut. Below the writing surface, the space is divided into ten drawers decorated with chalking, and features an arched central niche. Behind the niche are four hidden drawers. The drop-front panel has a two-step locking mechanism that also secures the top drawer. The lower part includes a double-door cabinet lockable with the same key as the writing panel; the interior is divided by a single shelf. On either side of the cabinet, a pair of fluted columns on bases supports the upper section with a decorative cornice. 180x60x128 cm. Condition A.
