THE LAST SUPPER GOBLET

Northern Bohemia, 2nd quarter of the 19th century
A bell-shaped goblet of colourless cut glass, faceted into a heptagon in the lower part, with a star-shaped foot. Oval medallions with a diminishing optical effect around the circumference, separated by areas of very fine stone cutting; some smaller areas painted with yellow / old-rose stain, accented with green lines along the edges. The front features a matt-engraved Last Supper scene. It follows the popular motif produced in the workshop of Anton Simm (1799–1873) in Jablonec nad Nisou. H. 18 cm. Unmarked. Condition B. Minor chips on the foot, scratches inside the bowl.
