MADONNA WITH CHILD

Standing Madonna in a blue dress with a red cloak, with the Christ Child on her left arm, in the right hand she probably held a sceptre. The Christ Child holds an apple in the left hand and touches the mother`s chin with the right. Both figures are crowned. Woodcarving, polychromy, gilding, H. 65 cm. Hollowed out at the back, in the upper part an iron hanger, below a hole for a pin; on the reverse below an inscription in ochre paint: 1929 – in pencil: 1901 / 1901 feat… (illegible). A devotional Marian statue – (?), carving with rustic features. After repair, attribute missing from the Madonna`s right hand, cracks in the wood, surface finish damaged, loosened, flaking in numerous places, previously repaired.
