The atlas of the world Theatrum Orbis Terrarum is one of the most important works in the history of cartography. It includes 53 maps. It was printed in Antwerp on May 20, 1570 for the first time. It was many times reissued and by the author`s death it was published 25 times in several languages. This work is considered to be the first modern atlas, a summary of sixteenth-century cartography. The offered work includes 53 map double sheets designed by various artists, copperplate engravings on paper, period-coloured, marked with the number of the sheet and accompanying text in Latin on the verso. These are the prints from the first edition. The third edition from 1573 already has a different numbering of map sheets, which increased with each subsequent edition. The offered work contains all map sheets of the first edition with the corresponding numbers of sheets and accompanying text on the verso. Without all supporting text, the introduction, title, etc. Bound in non-original paper binding.
