COMMEMORATIVE SWORD (CUTLASS)

Prussia, around 1870
Straight single-edged blade with three fullers on both sides, etched. On the right side motifs of scrolls, war trophies and inscription: „Leib Kür. Reg. Großer Kurfürst / (Schles) No. 1“, on the left side motifs of war trophies, oak branches with ribbon and inscription: „Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit“. Newly sharpened tip on broken blade. Bronze guard and fittings of grip, smooth, undecorated. Grip covered with fish leather and wire. Blade length 68 cm. Total length 82 cm. With export permit. Condition restored. Broken blade with new tip. Leib-Kürassier-Regiment „Großer Kurfürst“ (Schlesisches) Nr. 1. established in 1674 and disbanded in 1918..
