SET OF RENAISSANCE ASTRONOMICAL PRINTS FROM 1ST HALF OF THE 16TH CENTURY

Book format 16°, in Latin, hard binding. Spine with 3 raised bands, in white leather binding with blind stamp decorations of oval medallions important figures of the Reformation (J. Hus, M. Luther, P. Melanchthon, E. of Rotterdam). Crack on lower raised band. Front with initials "I J S" and date 1560. Missing buckles. With woodcut illustrations, front end-sheet and first page with contemporary notes, in a good condition. Book consists of: Pontano Giovanni - Ioannis Ioviani Pontani Liber de meteoris, cum interpretatione Viti Amerbachii. Argentorati : apud C. Mylium, 1545. Gemma Frisius - De principiis astronomiae et cosmographiae, deqve vsv globi cosmographici ab eodem editi. Eivsdem De annuli astronomici vsu. + Ioannis Schoneri De vsu globi astriferi opusculum. Antverpiae, in aedibus Ioan. Steelsii, 1548. Hartmann Beyer - Quaestiones novae in libellum de Sphaera Joannis de Sacro Busto, in gratiam studiosae ivventutis collectae ab Hartmanno Beyer, recognitae & plaerisque in locis auctae, Francoforti, Ex officina Petri Brubachii, 1549.
