MAXIMILIAN III, ARCHDUKE OF AUSTRIA (1558-1618)

1716
Copperplate on paper, 25x17,5 cm. Illustration number XXXX, probably from the work "Die Groß- und Landmeister des deutschen Ordens" from 1716. In 1585, Maximilian acquired an important position in the Teutonic Order, the role of coadjutor, which guaranteed his succession as the Grand Master. He thus became the first in a line of Habsburg Grand Masters, a position that lasted until the end of the monarchy. Small perforation in the lower part - outside the print area.
