SILVER SET YOGYA

Tea set consisting of a smaller and larger teapot (with lids and removable strainer in the larger one), a sugar bowl with a lid, small vases (jars without lids?) and an oval tray, richly decorated with floral ornaments using the repoussé technique. Total weight 2413,35 g, Ag 750/1000, marked "850 TR8 TOM", assay office certificate. The production of silverware known as "Yogya Silver" originated in the second quarter of the 20th century, supported by the joint efforts of Dutch and Javanese advocates of decorative crafts. In the 1930s, Java was part of the Dutch East India. The center of this production was in the capital city of the Yogyakarta province (Yogya) and the nearby city of Kotagede. The industry flourished, especially after the declaration of Indonesia`s independence in 1949, and it continues to thrive to this day. Condition A.
