MADONNA OF LOMEC

Bohemia, 19th century
Small-format wood carving, without polychromy, standing figure of the Virgin Mary with the Baby Jesus in her left hand, both crowned. The Baby Jesus extends his right hand in a blessing gesture, while other attributes such as the scepter in the right hand of the Madonna and the apple in the left hand of the Baby Jesus are missing. On a low, undecorated plinth. The back side is only schematically worked and fitted with a hanging device. H. 33 cm. Condition C. Missing attributes, traces of woodworm, missing piece of plinth, remnants of surface covers on the Madonna`s crown.
