MADONNA IMMACULATA

Bavaria, 18th century
High-quality carving in lime wood, without polychromy (originally chalked and probably polychromed), crafted from all sides. Figure of a woman in a slightly S-shaped posture with a child seated on the palm of her right hand. The figure of the child is carved separately and attached to the Madonna`s hand with a peg. Hair tied in a knot with freely flowing locks framing the face, along with dynamically outlined drapery contours, emphasize the noble expression and harmonious impression of the entire sculpture. A non-original (inappropriate and easily removable) gilded crown and a newer gilded base. Height 44 cm, height with crown and base 56 cm. Condition corresponding to the age.
