LAST SUPPER

Half-length figures of Christ and 11 apostles (the two outer apostles are depicted as full sitting figures) at the Last Supper, carved wood, polychromy (multiple layers, repairs), gilding, h. 9,7-16 cm; with a modern table and bench for placing the figures. Jesus is identified by bread in his hand, Judas by a purse and John by the beardless face; the other figures are not individualized, so it is not clear which apostle is missing. Folk carving, inspired by scenes often depicted in altarpieces. Condition C.
