STILL LIFE WITH LEMON AND OYSTER
1927-1929
Oil on canvas, 38x55 cm. Signed lower right.
From an expert opinion by Rea Michalová, Ph.D.: "The submitted work Still Life with Lemon and Oyster is a high-quality and rare piece from the early years of the Paris period (1926-1940). This period marked a phase of rapid artistic maturation for him [...] also thanks to the artist`s rich artistic education. From 1925 to 1929, Diviš attended lectures by František Kupka, who already saw him as a mature creator. The young painter further educated himself at the École des Beaux-Arts, Académie 4 de la Grande Chaumière, and the academies of Collarosi and Ranson: his teachers were none other than André Lhote, Amedée Ozenfant, Fernand Léger, and Othon Friesz."
