PLATE "DÜRNSTEIN"

Moravia, Vranov nad Dyjí, 1840-1850
Shallow circular plate of soft stoneware, creamy glaze, green printed decor with the view of Dürnstein in Lower Austria with figurative staffage, rims adorned with floral motifs. The view was probably based on an aquatint from the work "Malerische Reise der Donau" published by J.H. Locher in Zurich in 1835. diameter 24,5 cm. Green printed mark „Frain“ with an anchor and impressed shield with a crown and inscription „Frain“. Condition A.
