A COLLECTION OF 6 PLATES WITH CITY VIEWS
Vranov nad Dyjí, 1840s, and Stará Role, August Nowotny, 2nd half of the 19th century
Three plates of soft stoneware, white glaze, with black printed decor: featuring views of Eisenerz, Dubicko, Arnold v. Winkelried Kapelle bei Sempach, and floral motifs on the rims. Marked with black printed "Frain" with an anchor, impressed shield with a crown "Frain," and "F2". Diameter 24 cm.
Comes with: three plates of soft stoneware, creamy glaze, with black printed decor: views of Laxenburg, Bahnhof zu Prag, and an unidentified view of a chapel in the landscape. Impressed mark "August Nowotny in Altrohlau bei Karlsbad" with numbers "2" and "15" and black brush mark, or "August Nowotny in Alt.Rohlau bei Carlsbad" with number "2". Diameter 24,9 cm (1x), 23,4 cm (2x). All plates are equipped with wire mounts for hanging.
