A GROTESQUE FIGURE

A caricature of a bespectacled man in a tailcoat and top hat, riding a dog. The grotesque figure sits on the dog backwards, facing its tail, which he holds. Patinated bronze, h. 9 cm, assembled from two pieces, engraved inscription with signature on the sheet in the rider`s armpit: "...Anton Kolbinger". The probable author is mentioned as a chiseler in: Berichte über die Weltausstellung Paris 1878, Wien, Verlag der Handel- und Gewerbekammer, 1879: "... 2: Berichte über die Metallwaren-Industrie (darunter Kunst- und Bauschlosserei, Silber- Gold- Bronze und Blechwaren, Juwelen (Adolf Dafinger), Ciselierarbeiten (Anton Kolbinger und Stephan Schwartz)...".
