Josef Jambor (1887-1964)

LAST SNOW IN BLATINY

1948
Oil on canvas 49,5x64,5 cm, signed and dated lower right "Jambor 1948". Framed. Promise of Spring. The artist`s constant source of inspiration, in which he found countless nuances of the color spectrum, through which, with true mastery, he evoked the feelings and impressions experienced by every visitor to the beautiful and mysterious landscape of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands around Sněžné. It is precisely those indistinct transitions during the period of the approaching or already fading winter, where he demonstrated his painterly mastery and illustrated his connection with nature, its hopes, joys, and sorrows, as well as his perfect knowledge of the coexistence of humans and nature in all its aspects. The little cottages huddling in the waterlogged meadows, full of melting snow, still chilled by the cold, but already anticipating the timid sunbeams and the passing shadows of clouds on the earth, which, with its bluish tones of sprouting winter cereals and the fresh green of newly awakened grass, reveals the unstoppable arrival of happy spring days.
