CUP WITH A MOTIF FROM THE OPERA DER FREISCHÜTZ

Bell-shaped cup on higher foot (Kratertasse type) with a leaf-shaped handle (Blatthenkel). Color painted scene of Ännchen with Agathe from Weber`s opera Der Freischütz, gilded staffage. Brush inscription on foot (difficult to read) with the designation of the corresponding scene from the opera: "Der Freischütz II. Aufzug, 1. Auftritt". The model for the miniature was a copperplate engraving by Johann Axmann based on the original by Johann Heinrich Ramberg. Non-original saucer.
H. of cup 9 cm, diameter of saucer 15,1 cm.
Blue underglaze "Schwertermarke" (Knaufzeit), impressed no. "47" and second illegible number; saucer with the mark of the same porcelain factory.
Condition restored.
Restored rim of the cup, hairline crack.
