The individual volumes show only slight signs of wear, such as slightly frayed corners and scuffed edges on the spines and bindings.
A representative, richly illustrated popular-educational topographical series published between 1883 and 1908. It featured contributions from leading Czech writers and artists, including, in addition to those mentioned elsewhere, Eliška Krásnohorská, Jaroslav Vrchlický, Teréza Nováková, and Antonín Chittussi. The main editors were successively František Adolf Šubert, František Adolf Borovský, and Alois Jirásek. The series consists of 14 volumes published in 15 books (Volume III, Prague, is divided into two books). Originally, the work was published in booklets.
