OUR LADY OF LOMEC

South Bohemia, last third of the 19th century
Folk wood carving of a small format, high relief, depicting the Marian pilgrimage statue from the South Bohemian pilgrimage site of Lomec. The standing Virgin Mary in contrapposto on a higher, slightly tapered pedestal, holding the seated Baby Jesus on her left arm, both are crowned. The Baby Jesus blesses with His right hand. The attributes (the Madonna’s scepter in her right hand and the Christ Child`s left hand holding an apple) are missing. Wood, polychromy, gilding; height 37 cm, with a hanging fixture on the back. Condition C. Minor mechanical damage, missing attributes, some crackling of the polychromy, slight soiling..
