COSTUME SWORD

France, Paris, circa 1780
The blade, with a diamond-shaped cross-section, is decorated with an engraving of floral scrolls. On the left side of the blade is the engraved inscription "Aubry M fourbisseur au Roy De France et a la Tete noire Pont S Michel a Paris". The steel guard has an Italian-style grip, smooth, with remnants of the original silvering. The handle is wrapped in silver wire. The scabbard is made of brown leather with a silver mount.
