INVITATION FOR ALFONS MUCHA TO THE ANNUAL ASSEMBLY OF THE SUPREME COUNCIL OF THE 33RD AND FINAL DEGREE OF THE SCOTTISH RITE (MASONIC LODGE)

Grand Orient, Boston, Massachusetts, 1 August 1926
Format 4°, 26.8 × 21 cm. Folded bifolium on heavy paper, horizontally folded in the middle, black printing, black-and-gold embossed printing, insertions in black (and red) ink and pencil. Printed invitation on letterhead of The Supreme Council of Sovereign Grand Inspectors-General of the Thirty-third and last Degree of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry for the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America. In the header, motif of a double-headed eagle with the motto "Deus Meumque Jus" as emblem of the Scottish Rite. At the bottom, blind seal of the Supreme Council (Supreme Council 33° Northern Masonic Jurisdiction U.S.A.). The mentioned meeting took place at the Buffalo Consistory Auditorium, 1180 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo, New York, on 21 September 1926 at 10 a.m. Signed by Leon Martin Abbott, M. P. Sov. Grand Commander, and Charles H. Spillman, Grand Secretary-General H. E. A note in the header gives the name of another prominent Masonic personality, Robert A. Shirrefs, Jr. Sec. gen., Room 617 No. 299 Broadway, New York. Between 1922 and 1938 Alfons Mucha served as Grand Commander, i.e. the highest representative of Czech Freemasons, and holder of the highest degree of initiation, the 33rd Scottish Rite. He maintained friendships with both American and French Freemasons. Paper perforated 4 times in the middle section, otherwise only slight creases, overall in good condition.
