6 SILVER SPOONS

Austrian Empire, Prague, Antonín Karel Maroušek, and Hungary, Pest, Joseph Prandtner, 1825 and 1840, 1831
Six silver soup spoons, of which 4 pcs: Pest assay marks, maker’s mark “Prandtner”, with engraved initials “MH.” on the underside of the handle; 2 pcs: Prague assay marks S-27, two different maker’s marks “AM”. Total weight 386 g, length approx. 22.5 cm, Ag 13 lot (812.5/1000). Anton(ín) Karel Maroušek / Marausch(ek), 1788–1870, a Prague silversmith, goldsmith, and jeweller of the Historicist period. Trained in Prague between 1802 and 1808, he passed his master’s examination in 1814, the same year he obtained city rights. In 1813 he married the daughter of silversmith František Riedl. From 1834 to 1844 he served as the third head of the guild. His extensive and wide-ranging oeuvre includes, among other things, numerous flatware pieces, for example the service from the estate of Sidonie Nádherná from the château of Vrchotovy Janovice, now in the National Museum in Prague.
