Oil on canvas, 71.5×105.5 cm (104×139 cm). Signed lower right "E. Schäfer", framed, with an author label on the frame. A representative of Schäfer’s interest in the treatment of light within a natural setting, where the central motif is not a specific place but the very moment of sunlight penetrating through dense foliage. The composition is built with emphasis on spatial depth, achieved by gradation of colour planes from rich, shaded tones in the foreground to a bright, sunlit clearing in the centre. Condition A.
