Oil on canvas, 36×56 cm (61.5×81.5 cm). Signed lower right "F. de Bergue", additionally signed on a sail with the monogram "D.B.". Original French Blondel frame. Recto on the frame a label with the author’s name; verso on the frame marked with a label "Ch. Pottier", a firm specialising in the mounting, packing, and transport of works of art. An excellent example of the artist’s interest in the light and atmospheric transformations of a coastal environment. The composition captures a calm bay with fishing boats on the shore. Condition A-B.
