TABLE CLOCK IN THE BOULLE STYLE

A table clock in a wooden Boulle-type case, richly shaped in the Late Baroque to Rococo manner. The surface is decorated with a red ground and metal inlay in ornamental décor imitating the Boulle technique. The case is complemented by rich cast and gilded bronze appliques – volute feet, a mascaron, ornamental cartouches, and a crowning figure.
A round dial with twelve individual enamelled cartouches bearing blue-painted Roman numerals, a gilded centre plate with relief ornament, steel hands. Two winding holes for the going and striking trains. French-type spring-driven movement, hourly and half-hourly strike on a bell. Rear access through a door.
