PAIR OF OWL-TYPE JUGS
Western Slovakia, probably Sobotiště and Košolná, (1st half) 19th century
Two faience jugs of pear shape on a low foot, with a strap handle and an almost closed neck terminating in a narrow spout, décor painted in high-fire colours on a white glaze: on the belly, a floral composition, in the upper and lower parts ornamental bands, all in predominantly green and yellow with manganese outline drawing.
H. 25 cm.
On the base of the second jug, brush mark "IK" (probably Jozef Kitta).
Condition C.
Chip on the neck of the first jug, abrasions, craquelure in the glaze.
