PAIR OF SVATÁ HORA MADONNAS

Two folk pilgrimage woodcarvings of the Svatá Hora (Holy Mountain) Virgin Mary with the Christ Child, whom she holds under the neck, on a triangular base. The smaller carving is polychromed, H. 17.8 cm, max. W. 7.5 cm, D. 3.5 cm, on the reverse below an inscription: "… ice / Morava", the Virgin Mary`s crown is missing, mechanical damage and wear, polychromy flaked off in places. The larger statuette without polychromy, H. 20.5 cm, max. W. 8.8 cm, D. 4 cm, the Virgin Mary`s crown is missing, original polychromy removed. Condition C.
