MECHANICAL MONEY BOX

A mechanical money box works so that a coin is placed in the clown`s hand, who "swallows" it when a lever on his back is pressed. The appearance of the money box is inspired by the character of Humpty Dumpty, popularised by the American clown George L. Fox in the 1860s. This type of money box was patented by Charles G. Shepard and Peter Adams in 1884. Cast iron, colourfully painted, H. 17 cm. Condition B.
