Quarto, 30x19.4 cm. Unpaginated, [140] leaves, in Latin. Title page printed in black. Initials, vignettes. Sturdy leather binding with blind-tooled decoration, spine with 4 raised bands and a label with manuscript shelf-marking. Printed by the Jesuit university press of Charles-Ferdinand University in Prague in 1651. On the front blank leaf, a manuscript Latin note mentioning the name of the student Johann Flixius and the event of the laying of the foundation stone of the first Jesuit college on the site of today`s Klementinum by Bernard Ignaz, Count of Martinic, under the auspices of Emperor Ferdinand III. On the title page, ownership inscriptions, e.g. "Conventus Bielensis". Damaged by woodworm, moisture and mould – chiefly the binding; the ties survive only fragmentarily, the book block is intact. A theological work on the exceptional nature of the Virgin Mary, drawing on Holy Scripture, the sayings of the Church Fathers, theology and natural philosophy.
