Both the binding and the margins of the leaves at the back of the book are damaged by woodworm. An academic legal treatise (academic thesis) focused on Roman law. It analyzes the legal opinions and responsa of the ancient Roman jurists, which were incorporated by the scholar Tribonian into the famous collection of the Pandects (Digest) under Emperor Justinian I. In the text, Turba examines how these classical Roman foundations shaped contemporary Baroque legal scholarship and teaching at the Prague law faculty. It was published under the auspices of the then rector of Charles-Ferdinand University, physician and professor Jan Antonín Cassini de Bugella, and was dedicated to Emperor Leopold I. The defending student was Antonín Rudolf Dvořák of Plzeň.
