Larger size 8°, 22x14 cm, 34 numbered pages, in Czech. Translated by Jindřich Hořejší. Individual solid leather binding in a cardboard slipcase with a chemise, blind-stamped on the rear pastedown "KNIHAŘSTVÍ ŽAMBERK JIŘÍ FOGL". Title page printed in black and red. Frontispiece a zincograph, hand-coloured and signed in pencil "Toyen", a further 2 full-page coloured zincographs in the text. Design by Karel Dyrynk. Published by Václav Lácha in Prague in April 1932 as volume III of the Trimalchion edition in a total print run of 195 copies; this copy (from a total of 30 copies on Dutch Van Gelder paper) bears no. "19. L.". Sáňka IV, p. 405, no. 4159. A further copy is held in the collections of the Moravian Gallery in Brno, inv. no. BF 1687. On the front pastedown the bookplate of Jiří Kačer. One of the rear blank leaves slightly creased. Excellent condition. Provenance: the estate of Josef Hladký - the collection of Jiří Kačer - a private collection, Brno. Josef Hladký (1885-1960), bookseller, publisher, book artist and collector. He was one of the leading figures of the Czech interwar bibliophile movement and a co-founder of the prestigious journal Bibliofil. He published artistically valuable, small-edition works (e.g. the Amfora or Rozmarýn editions) printed on handmade paper, often accompanied by original prints, etchings and the authors` signatures.
