Imperatoris Justiniani Institutionum Libri IIII. Size 16°, 11.5x5.8 cm. Title page in the form of a full-page copperplate engraving, marginal notes in iron gall ink. 240 pp. + index, in Latin. Later student parchment rebinding with a smooth spine, both blind clasps preserved (only one functional).
This is a basic textbook of Roman law from the 6th century in a 1647 re-edition in a small pocket format for study purposes. The title is divided into 4 books: I. persons (status, slaves, family), II. things and property, III. obligations, IIII. actions and procedure.
An unusually well-preserved copy given the nature of the book.
