Woodcut title page printed in black depicting Christ on the cross, beneath whom kneels the Elector on the left and Luther on the right, with a cloudy sky and symbols of the four Evangelists in the background. Woodcut initials. Full leather binding with tooled decoration on the original bevelled wooden board, on the boards inscription "ANTONIVS 6 KOELER / ANNO 1556", spine with 4 raised bands, brass clasps. Binding slightly warped, worn, traces of woodworm, clasps preserved fragmentarily, leaf edges slightly damaged by moisture, 1 leaf torn ca 6 cm, otherwise good condition. Occasional erroneous pagination. Numerous Latin manuscript notes in the margins. This is Luther`s commentary on Genesis. One of 7 volumes of the first edition of Luther`s Latin works.
