OFFICER SWORD

Germany, Bavaria, around1800 Slim steel blade with edge, one side with distinctive fuller, engraved and gilded on blued background, bronze clamshell guard with lion in oval medallion, the grip with Egyptian motif, crossguard with olive branches and eagle-head finial. Cast gilded bronze, rectangle agate inlay in the pommel. Thick black leather scabbard with locket and chape made of gilded bronze. French style, very favourite in Europe of the time. Length (blade): 80 cm. Total length: 96 cm. Condition B. Some corrosion, rubbed gilt in places, slight damage of the scabbard sewing. Condition A/B.
