SKULL TABLE CLOCK

Silver skull clock, embossed and engraved décor, pierced, with red fabric interior. Total (gross) weight 263,04 g, ca 7x5x6 cm. Hinge, movement inside the case. Enamel dial with black Roman numerals for hours, two hands and subsidiary second dial. Verge escapement, pierced balance cock, marked: "D. Evans LONDON 7564". Clock was probably created for the Spanish market, following the popular models of the late 17th century. The skull here represents the classic vanitas symbol with the reference: remember death, it always comes too soon.
