CRACKED EGGS

Germany, Meissen, Königlich Sächsische Porzellan-Manufaktur, 1777 (design) -1815
Two rococo ladies, one seated, holding her standing companion by the shoulder and pointing to an overturned basket at their feet, from which eggs spill out. In front of her, Cupid kneels, showing her a broken egg, while another putto hides under the skirt of the second lady and helps her hold a floral garland with which she is crowned. White porcelain, painted in pastel shades, flesh tones, gilded details, oval plinth imitating natural terrain, with a decorative frieze. Model number F 65. H. 24 cm. Blue underglaze "Schwertermarke" swith a star. Condition C. Minor chips: basket handles, part of the garland, single leaves and flowers, tip of a shoe. Provenance: private collection, Bavaria.
