FLINTLOCK MUSKET "BROWN BESS"

Cylindrical barrel with smooth bore, caliber 19 mm (0.75"), silver front sight, marked near the base with a proof mark. Flintlock mechanism with reinforced hammer, marked on the plate `TOWER` AND `G.R`, mechanically functional. Full-length stock lacquered black, with bronze fittings, adorned on the lower part of the stock with bronze nails. Steel ramrod with bronze head inserted under the barrel. Total length 138 cm, barrel length 99 cm (39"). This is a variant of the "India Pattern", manufactured by the East India Company for the Napoleonic Wars.

Widespread corrosion on steel parts. Soldered bronze buttplate.
