BARREL-SHAPED JUG

West Slovakia, 1847
Faience jug of the “owl” type, pear-shaped with an almost closed neck terminating in a narrow spout with a relief rim. Decorated on a white glaze in high-fire colours: on the front an agricultural emblem within a green leaf wreath, flanked by bouquets; the date “1847” beneath the handle. On the “staves” the manganese inscription “SSTEFAN KISELOWIC”. H. 28,5 cm. Condition restored. Neck restored; glaze crazed.
