COLLECTION OF PEWTER DISHES: TUREEN AND 15 PLATES

Central Europe, 18th - 20th century
Tureen of Baroque form, moulded, with two handles and a lid. Height 27 cm, length 31 cm. Three shallow pewter plates with a wavy rim, marked on the underside with the pewterer`s mark bearing the initials IC (IG) with a town emblem and the year 1734 (Germany, Marburg, J. Caminolli, master before 1760; see E. Hintze: Die deutschen Zinngießer und ihre Marken, vol. 7: Süddeutsche Zinngießer, part 3, Tauberbischofsheim to Zwiesel. With appendix: Alsace, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Leipzig 1931, no. 1125). The rim engraved with the inscription “17B.A.Z.V.66”. Ø 22 cm; 2 pieces fitted with hanging loops. Nine circular plates without decoration, Ø 22.2–25.3 cm, marked “PROBZINN J. 1839 B.” Bohemia, Jihlava, Jan Bareš (Johann Baresch). Flat plate with a simple border, undecorated, Ø 29.8 cm, illegible marks (“Fein Zinn…”), damaged. Flat plate with a moulded five-lobed rim and reinforced border, fitted with a hanging loop; underside marked with an angel and “FEIN ENGL. ZINN”, Ø 22.9 cm. Plate of Baroque-revival form with a wavy rim, without further decoration, underside marked “UŘ DECORATION” (Umělecká řemesla – for newly made pewter wares since 1971), Ø 21.4 cm. Condition B-C.
