Oil on canvas, 68×89 cm (79×91 cm). Signed lower right "Joseph Jost". Framed in a period Blondel frame, relined. A classic Realist still life with pronounced chiaroscuro. On a dark, probably wooden surface, lemons, a ceramic jug with a lid, and a decorative pewter vessel (tureen) are arranged. The work excels in the masterful rendering of material textures and light reflections on the fruits and vessels. Condition B.
