THREE PAINTED JUGS

Upper Austria, Western Slovakia, 19th century
A small faience jug of pear shape on a low foot, white-glazed, decorated with painting in high-fire colours with architectural motifs in a landscape and grey-blue borders and hatching on the handle, which is fitted with a pewter mount with a hinged lid and a spherical thumbpiece; on the underside of the lid a pewterer`s mark with a mermaid; the foot is also set in a pewter mount. Together with: two pear-shaped faience jugs with a pulled handle, white-glazed, painted in high-fire colours with motifs of birds on flowers with a garland border below the rim / floral motifs with yellow flowers and a yellow line on the rim and foot (in both cases). The second jug 1st half of the 19th century, the last Stupava, last quarter of the 19th century. H. 17,5, 20 a 20,8 cm. On the base of the first small jug, blue brush mark "P"(?), indistinct mark also on the second, the third unmarked. Condition B-C. The second jug restored, the third has more pronounced chips and abrasions.
