PAINTED SNUFFBOX

Bohemia, Prague last third of the 18th century
Rectangular box with bulging hinged lid, enamel on copper in silver mounting, decorated with miniature enamel painting with motifs of card sheets, flowers, butterflies and insects, inscription: "ZU PRAG BEI MAT. ROTMÜLLER". Austrian hallmark S-16 (1806), total (gross) weight 152,03 g, 8x6,5x3 cm. Inscription might be connected with painter Matěj Rotmüller, living in Prague in 1784. A.
