MILK JUG AND SAUCER

France, Paris, Atelier De Deroche, approx. 1810
A milk jug with an oval base, designed in Empire style, shaped like an inverted helmet with relief decoration and an elevated handle featuring a palmette and two intertwined snakes. Porcelain and biscuit, blue ground and gilding. Together with: an oval porcelain dish (saucer) with an unglazed foliate band along the edge, gilded. Restored. Compare with the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Accession Number 2006.583a, b. H. of milk jug 12,5 cm, saucer 15,5x13 cm. Milk jug unmarked, saucer: blue underglaze shield mark. Condition restored.
