WALL PLATE WITH DIANA

Austria, Vienna, Wiener Porzellanmanufaktur, 1808
Decorative porcelain plate decorated with a pink ground and, in the centre, a colourful mythological painting depicting the goddess Diana seated with a companion and a dog, resting with the hunted stag at their feet; the rim finished with ornamental gilding in a historicising style. Ø 24,5 cm. Blue underglaze Bindenschild, impressed three-digit date “808” and turner’s number “23” (Thomas Neuhold, active in the Vienna Porcelain Manufacture c. 1799/1800–1832/33 (compare with: W. Neuwirth: Wiener Porzellan 1718–1864, Bd. II). Condition A/B. Provenance: former Just`s collection (Rudolf Just, 1895–1972, notable Czech interwar collector and connoisseur).
