Format 12°, 16 x 10 cm. 711 numbered pages, in Latin. Title page printed in black, with manuscript annotations, partly amateurishly restored. Initials and other small printer`s ornaments. Sturdy leather binding with blind-tooled decoration and clasps (surviving as fragments), spine renewed at a later date. Published by Eucharius Cervicornus in Cologne in August 1532. Manuscript annotations dated from 1533 on the front pastedown, further notes throughout the text. The book block is intact, slightly damaged by damp, but in exceptional condition given the age of the book. A collection of homilies and sermons on the four Gospels by Haymo of Halberstadt, a 9th-century Carolingian theologian and bishop. The book contains texts arranged according to the liturgical year (for individual days and weeks), intended to serve preachers as an aid for divine service. Historical editions of this work (often printed in the 16th century, e.g. in 1532) were customarily divided into a winter part (pars hyemalis) and a summer part (pars aestiualis).
