Oil on canvas, 108x138 cm. Relined. Framed. Condition restored. The painting is mentioned in literature in the inventory of Kupecký`s work (E. Šafařík, Joannes Kupezky (1667-1740), Prague 1928, p. 126, no. 308), and E. Safarik, Johann Kupezky (1666-1740). Gesamtkunstwerk I, Brno 2014, p. 19, no. 28, image. p. 100) as Kupecký`s authentic painting. Based on examination and expert opinion by Ing. Mgr. Tomáš Zezula the painting was presented in the 9th Online Auction of the Auction House Zezula, s.r.o. as work of an anonymous author from the end of the 18th century. For the purposes of the "Certificate of Sale of Cultural and Sacred Objects", the Ministry of Culture was asked to examine the painting. Due to the time-consuming nature of the report, the painting was withdrawn from the 9th Online Auction. The Institute of Experts of the National Gallery in Prague examined the painting and in its conclusions confirmed the opinion of ADZ, that it is not an authentic work by Kupecký, but a work from the early 19th century, made by a follower or a copy of today`s lost original painting mentioned in book by Ludwig von Hagedorn.
